Born on July 18, 1995, Wilson hails from Hamden, Connecticut, where his passion for music was ignited at a young age. Interestingly, he never saw himself as a singer until his father overheard him singing and immediately recognized his undeniable talent. Wilson’s father, an astute supporter of his son’s abilities, took the initiative to organize open mic nights at one of the McDonald’s restaurants he oversaw as the director of operations. These open mic nights not only provided the local community with a safe space to have fun but also served as a platform to showcase Wilson’s blossoming talent. Even today, at the age of 27, Wilson continues to contribute to the event, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to his roots.

Wilson’s musical journey gained momentum when one of his first singles, “Ringtone,” caught the attention of radio station WYBC-FM in New Haven, Connecticut. Sent as a demo by his father, the song quickly gained airplay and became a regional hit in Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts. This early success laid the foundation for Wilson’s future accomplishments, drawing the attention of renowned producer Sean Garrett, who recognized his immense potential and began working with him.

In 2012, the world got a taste of Wilson’s exceptional talent when he graced the stage of The Voice. At just 16 years old, he auditioned for the show and secured a spot on Team Cee Lo Green. Throughout his journey on the show, Wilson captivated audiences with his soul-stirring performances, impressing both the judges and viewers alike. While he didn’t emerge as the ultimate winner, his elimination on October 29, 2012, after his captivating rendition of “Yeah 3x,” was considered a major upset by many publications. However, this setback did not deter Wilson’s determination to succeed in the music industry.

Shortly after his stint on The Voice, Wilson signed with Clive Davis and RCA Records, solidifying his place in the music industry. In 2015, he made a triumphant return to The Voice, this time as a non-competitor, to perform his debut single, “If I Have To.” The soulful ballad showcased Wilson’s growth as an artist and earned him widespread acclaim. It was during this time that he also announced his performance at the BET Awards, further cementing his status as an artist to watch.

Beyond his television appearances, Wilson has consistently released music that resonates with his audience. In 2018, he delighted fans with his 5-song project, “FYI,” featuring singles like “Dollar Bill” and “Wass the Move.” The project showcased Wilson’s versatility as an artist, blending various genres and delivering powerful messages through his lyrics. The following year, he released “8:34,” a 4-song project that further demonstrated his artistic growth and maturity.

However, it was on July 18, 2020, Wilson’s 25th birthday, that he courageously shared an important aspect of his personal life. In a tweet, he came out as bisexual, garnering immense support from his fans and the LGBTQ+ community. Wilson’s decision to embrace his true self showcased his authenticity and fearlessness, inspiring others to live their lives authentically and unapologetically.
