On Sunday, a 26-year-old activist and influencer Mulvaney announced Bud Light’s partnership through her Instagram account, promoting the beer brand’s NCAA’s March Madness contest. However, this sparked a right-wing backlash resulting in turmoil. Despite this, Anheuser-Busch, Bud Light’s parent company, backed the brand’s decision and affirmed that they will continue collaborating with various influencers to reach a diverse range of customers, according to a spokesperson.

“Anheuser-Busch works with hundreds of influencers across our brands as one of many ways to authentically connect with audiences across various demographics,” the spokesperson said in a statement shared with several media outlets last week.

“From time to time, we produce unique commemorative cans for fans and for brand influencers, like Dylan Mulvaney. This commemorative can was a gift to celebrate a personal milestone and is not for sale to the general public.”
