Jason Roger Williams has been hired as the legal counsel for Jamell Maurice Demons, better known as YNW Melly, for his latest trial.

Back in 2012, Williams successfully defended rapper Boosie Badazz against murder charges, proving his innocence.

On February 13, 2019, Jamell was arrested for his alleged involvement in the deaths of his friends Anthony Williams (21) and Christopher Thomas Jr. (19).

Tragically, the two victims were discovered deceased inside a vehicle in Miramar, Florida, in October 2018, following the shooting incident.

Who are YNW Melly’s lawyers?

On January 9, 2023, the 24-year-old rapper, Jamell Maurice Demons, pleaded guilty to two charges of first-degree murder and one count of being an accessory after the fact.

The prosecution alleged that Jamell attempted to manipulate the crime scene to make it appear as a drive-by shooting.

Despite several delays, the trial commenced on June 5, 2023, following multiple postponements.

On June 2, Broward Circuit Judge John Murphy granted the state prosecutor’s request to allow jurors to recommend the death penalty with a majority vote of 8-4.

In the event of Jamell’s conviction, Judge Murphy has reduced the threshold for the death penalty to a majority verdict.

Jamell, the young rapper, managed to assemble a formidable legal team comprising highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals.

Among them is Jason Rogers Williams, an accomplished lawyer known for his expertise.

Nicole Burdett and Bradford Cohen are also part of the team, along with Rogers. Rogers co-owns the renowned legal practice called Jason Rogers Williams & Associates.

Throughout his extensive 20-year career, Rogers has successfully handled numerous complex cases, including those involving homicide, white-collar crime, and drug trafficking.

Given his substantial experience in criminal law, Rogers brings invaluable expertise to Jamell’s defense team.

Another prominent member of YNW Melly’s legal team is Bradford Cohen, renowned for his successful representation of high-profile clients such as Lil Wayne, XXXTentacion, and others.

With a strong background in criminal defense, Bradford has earned a reputation for skillfully handling challenging cases.

He serves as a partner in the esteemed legal firm Cohen & Cohen. Nicole Burdett, the third attorney on the team, works as an associate at Jason Rogers’ law office.

Her primary focus lies in representing clients in juvenile court cases. With her expertise in navigating the intricacies of juvenile law, Burdett is expected to bring a unique perspective to Jamell’s case and contribute a crucial element to the defense strategy.

While some individuals speculated that YNW Melly had passed away due to the possibility of receiving the death penalty, it is important to clarify that the rapper is still alive and actively participating in his legal proceedings.

Initially, Jamell’s mother, Jamie King, announced on April 11 via Instagram that his trial would commence on June 5.

However, the latest information from Blackroommedia.com suggests that YNW Melly’s court case will now begin on June 20.

YNW Melly rose to prominence by initially sharing his music on SoundCloud.

His freestyle rapping skills and viral hits such as “Virtual (Blue Balenciagas)” and “772 Love” garnered him significant popularity in 2018.

His best-known song, “Murder on My Mind,” further solidified his presence in the music industry.
