Tip 2: Provide inmates with access to mental health and substance abuse treatment.

Many inmates suffer from mental health and substance abuse problems. These problems can contribute to criminal behavior. Providing inmates with access to treatment can help them to address these problems and reduce their risk of recidivism.

Tip 3: Provide inmates with opportunities to connect with family and community members.

Inmates who have strong family and community ties are less likely to recidivate. Maintaining these ties can help inmates to stay connected to the outside world and to develop a sense of purpose and belonging.

Tip 4: Provide inmates with job training and placement assistance.

Finding a job after release is one of the biggest challenges that inmates face. Providing inmates with job training and placement assistance can help them to overcome this challenge and to find jobs that will support them and their families.
