The Tragic Story of a Mother Accused of Killing Her Three Children

Lindsey Clancy, a 33-year-old nurse and mother of three, has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of murder and strangulation in the deaths of her young children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan.

The horrific case has shocked and saddened the public, as well as raised questions about Clancy’s mental health and the role of postpartum depression and psychosis.

What has happened to Lindsay Clancy?

Bail holds Lindsay Clancy without release, and she receives treatment in a medical facility after she attempted suicide on Jan. 24, 2023, when officials discovered her kids unconscious in the family’s basement.

She is scheduled to be arraigned in Plymouth Superior Court at an unspecified date.

Her attorney, Kevin Reddington, has said that Clancy is paralyzed from the waist down due to the injuries she sustained from jumping out of a second-story window after allegedly strangling her children with exercise bands.

He has also said that Clancy had postpartum depression and possibly postpartum psychosis, which are rare conditions that can cause hallucinations and delusions after childbirth, sometimes leading to violent behavior.

What is Lindsay Clancy accused of?

Lindsay Clancy is accused of killing her three children, aged 5, 3, and 8 months, by strangling them with exercise bands in the basement of their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts.

Prosecutors allege that Clancy planned the murders and sent her husband, Patrick, out to do errands and pick up food while she carried out the attack.

They claim that she used the Apple Maps app on her phone to time his trip and make sure she had enough time to kill each child.

They also argue that she could have changed her mind at any point and stopped the strangulation, but she did not.

Lindsay Clancy paralyzed

According to her attorney, Lindsay Clancy is permanently paralyzed from the waist down as a result of her suicide attempt.

She suffered several spinal fractures after jumping out of a 20-foot window on the night of the alleged killings.

She is not expected to recover any meaningful function below that level of the spinal cord, which makes her a paraplegic.

Lindsay is currently receiving treatment at Tewksbury Hospital under the care of the state Department of Mental Health.

Patrick Clancy is the husband of Lindsay Clancy and the father of their three children.

He was not at home when the killings took place, as he had gone out to pick up medicine and food for the family at his wife’s request.

He returned home to find his wife lying in the backyard after having attempted to die by suicide.

Patrick then called 911 and discovered his children’s bodies in the basement.

He told police that his wife had been “smiling” and “happy” earlier that day and that she had been having “one of her best days” after a long struggle with anxiety.

He also said that she had been hospitalized for anxiety at a psychiatry facility in the weeks leading up to their children’s deaths.

Patrick Clancy has expressed his grief and forgiveness for his wife in a statement and on a GoFundMe page that has raised more than $1 million for him.

He said that his wife had a medical condition that he did not specify, but that might have been a contributing factor in the deaths of their children.

He also said that their marriage was wonderful and grew stronger as her condition worsened.

Patrick asked people to find it deep within themselves to forgive Lindsay, as he had.

He said that she loved being a nurse and a mother and that her passion taught him how to be a better father.
