Is the Surly ECR discontinued?
In case you haven’t gotten the inside scoop, Surly has discontinued another classic. The ECR is no more, and we’re sad to see it go. Read on for our thoughts about this decision and how the ECR bridged the gap between bikepacking and long-distance touring.
What does Surly ECR stand for?
They just decided to keep the name ECR without it standing for anything. Some of the suggestions thrown about were “Epic Camping Rig,” “Endurance Camp Racer,” or for you apocalyptic types, “Exit City Rapidly.” Make up your own name; that would be the Surly thing to do. 0-inch Surly Knard tires gobbled up the trail.
Can you put a suspension fork on a Surly ECR?
The ECR is also not designed for use with a suspension fork if that’s something you might want to add later on.
Is Surly Made in USA?
Surly Bikes is located in Bloomington, Minnesota, America but their bikes and products are manufactured in Taiwan. The company is a branch of Quality Bicycle Products that was founded in 1998.
Is 29er plus dead?

Any new(er) 80mm suspension fork will work, so long as the fork rake is around 43mm.
