Isaiah Faber, known as Powfu, is a Canadian lo-fi rapper.

He began playing the drums at the age of two and in his teens, began borrowing his punk rocker father’s microphone to rap over “super-relaxing” rhythms he discovered online.

Powfu quickly rose to prominence as a pioneer of lo-fi rap, a genre in which DIY bedroom rappers made their music then shared among SoundCloud’s thriving fan community cum sonic support groups.

Powfu claimed his genre of music was the best and in an interview with The Guadian said,

“Because it’s dirtier-sounding, I think it sounds more authentic than most popular pop songs. You can tell they recorded it alone in their bedroom, simply putting down their ideas”.

How did Powfu get famous?

Powfu discovered a rhythm on Soundcloud, placed his raps to it, and created a Gen Z mantra. Faber’s success landed him a record deal with Columbia Records.

Is Powfu still alive?

The younger rapper is very much alive as of 2022 with plans of releasing an album. He is 22 years of age.
