Is Michael Lerner from The Waltons still alive?

The late American actor passed away on June 22, 1941.

Sam Lerner took to Instagram on Sunday to announce the death of his uncle, who died the night before at the age of 81. However, there was no mention of the cause of death. Sam, who is also an actress, joked that Michael was “crazy” but in the greatest manner.
“I’m so grateful I got to spend so much time with him, and we’re all grateful we can continue to admire his work for the rest of our lives.”

Michael has appeared in films such as Elf, Godzilla, and Clerk. For his performance in the 1991 film Barton Fink, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

His characters are clearly not lacking in charisma, as characterized by The Guardian as having “a layer of charm, a thin skin of bonhomie over the blubber of the natural bully,”.
