Devin Carter was born to parents Cassie Carter and Anthony Carter. Devin grew up in Miami with his younger brother Joshua Carter.

His father Anthony is an assistant coach for the NBA’s Miami Heat and is a former NBA player.

Anthony played collegiate basketball for Saddleback and Hawaii. And because of his early exposure to the sport, Devin took up the ball at the young age of four and has been enamored with it ever since.

Similarly, Anthony spent his post-grad year of 2020–21 at Brewster Academy and his junior and senior high school basketball at Doral School.

He made his collegiate debut with 16 points against Western Kentucky, a career-high, and a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe. He plays basketball as of spring 2023, a sophomore guard for the Providence College Friars.

Anthony Carter Is A Former Basketball Star

Devin Carter dad Anthony Carter is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Devin got his impressive height from his dad, who is 6 feet 1 inch tall.

Carter participated on the varsity squad as a freshman at Alonzo A. Crim High School in Atlanta. But, after his freshman year of high school, Carter dropped out. After leaving school, Carter played basketball professionally in Atlanta throughout his teen years.

Many of Carter’s neighbors chipped in to pay for his GED and college tuition after seeing the potential in Carter’s basketball talents.

From 1994 to 1996, he was a player for Saddleback Community College in Mission Viejo, California, before transferring to the University of Hawaii.

He played one season in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) with the Yakima Sun Kings before going undrafted in the 1998 NBA draft and joining the Miami Heat.

Carter had a spectacular 13-year NBA career, split between the Yakima Sun Kings, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, Scafati Basket, Denver Nuggets, and New York Knicks.

Upon his retirement from playing in 2013, Anthony took a coaching position with the NBA Development League’s Austin Spurs in September.

When the Kings needed an assistant coach on July 31, 2015, they turned to Carter, who had previously coached in the NBA’s D-League with the Sioux Falls Skyforce. He has been employed with Miami Heat as a player development coach since September 2021.

Devin Carter Mom

Anthony Carter was married to wife Cassie Carter for twenty years before ending their relationship in 2020.

During their 20 years of marriage, they had two talented children, Devin Carter, and Joshua Carter. Also, according to a report on unicourt.com, Anthony filed a lawsuit to end his marriage to Cassie on July 1, 2020.

Furthermore, the divorce petition was filed in Miami-Dade, Florida’s Miami-Dade County courts.

Apart from this, Devin’s mother, Cassie, previously shared an Instagram post that is still accessible on Twitter that has words about exposing the NBA and standing up for children’s rights.

Her now-deleted Instagram feed had a collection of stories uploaded by SugarsGone on February 20, 2022. The series of screenshots shows her Instagram bio, which states she was Anthony’s ex-wife.

On another thread, she is identified as Cassie Burn Carter, who was married to NBA player Anthony Bernard Carter of the Miami Heat for two decades.

Devin Carter Siblings

Devin Carter has a younger brother named Joshua Carter. Joshua also plays high school basketball.

The Carter brothers were raised in a basketball environment since their father was a prominent NBA player who fostered a passion for sports in both of them.

In addition, Devin never felt star-struck as a child growing up among elite athletes. Yet, he views it as a blessing since not everyone can experience such a thing, and he is pretty proud to have a father who played in the NBA.

Furthermore, Anthony never pushed his boys to play or become a star, but he was always there to educate and encourage them.
