Louis Armstrong who lived from August 4, 1901, to July 6, 1971, was a trumpeter and vocalist from the United States.

His career, which spanned five decades saw him receive a Grammy Award for Best Male Vocal Performance for Hello, Dolly! in 1965, as well as a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously in 1972.

Louis Armstrong siblings: Beatrice Armstrong Collins, Henry Armstrong, William Armstrong

Information about the lives of his siblings listed above is very scanty. King Oliver, a jazz legend, invited Armstrong to relocate from New Orleans to Chicago in 1922. With the black-only Lincoln Gardens, Armstrong played the second cornet to Oliver in his Creole Jazz Band.

His band was very successful at that time. They landed high-paying gigs in white communities as time moved on.

Armstrong’s popularity also soured to higher heights. Fellow jazz musicians will troop in to watch him whenever he was performing just to gaze upon the legend in waiting.
